Folk Singer
Some of my earliest memories are of the lullabies and ballads that my Appalachian mother sang to me as a child — old songs that her mother and grandmother sang before her.
I cherish these folk songs and stories as a glimpse into the worlds of the poor and marginalized throughout history. They are a rich, complex oral history of communities whose shared stories and myths we may not otherwise know.
I feel a deep sense of responsibility to use my unique voice to carry on this powerful tradition — both in preserving the old songs, and in creating fresh, original work in the genre.
My work as a folk singer/songwriter has been featured in the film The Last Son, 2021, at the Sunstone Education Foundation, and in various human rights related events.
